There are many reasons to choose ThorpeWood for your event. Here's what some of our clients are saying:
|
The first time we saw ThorpeWood there was no doubt that this was where we were going to be married...it was perfect! Not only did ThorpeWood provide the rustic atmosphere that we were looking for but the ThorpeWood staff was incredibly accommodating...when we asked the ThorpeWood staff to turn a horse pasture into a ceremony site they went above and beyond what we expected to make our dreams come true. Sam, Julie and the rest of the ThorpeWood staff were great with recommendations but were never too pushy...they wanted our wedding to be what we wanted. Three months after our wedding we are still getting compliments about ThorpeWood and their staff, we couldn't be more pleased with our decision! Thank you so much for making our wedding day perfect!

Michael and I looked at a number of venues across Maryland before we found ThorpeWood. The price that these venues charge and the restrictions they put on you are overwhelming. To top it off, none of them felt like “the place” for us. It was frustrating; then a Google search produced ThorpeWood. I was astonished – all my life I had lived in Frederick County, MD and Adams County, PA area and did not even know ThorpeWood existed!
The minute I stepped into the lodge I knew that I wanted to have my wedding at ThorpeWood. We really love the fact that we have so many options and that a venue takes such pride in doing anything possible to make our day memorable. In addition, since ThorpeWood is a not-for-profit organization, our money is being put to good use. I am very touched by the programs that ThorpeWood has for children…AND… the customer service is outstanding; not once has a phone call or email gone unanswered and not once have I ever failed to receive a warm welcome when visiting ThorpeWood.

Essentially, we feel that ThorpeWood is a great place for our wedding because it incorporates our values and principles we live by day to day. While backpacking, we always live by the "leave no trace" philosophy, and having our ceremony at ThorpeWood does just that. The setting of ThorpeWood simply put, feels right, because it feels like us!

The first date my fiance and I went on was a hike in the Catoctin State Park. We love the isolation and tranquility of being in the woods away from city life. When we visited Thorpewood, we fell in love with it immediately. It fit both of our personalities with the wooden beams and fireplace. More than anything, we want our wedding day to be a warm and comforting day that our guests and we will always remember. We are getting married on January 31, 2009. We are excited to have the bare trees as a backdrop and a fireplace roaring to keep everyone warm.

I had several places that I was going to go visit for my wedding and Thorpewood was the first stop. After getting a wonderful tour of all the grounds, being treated to chai tea and fresh warm muffins, I knew that I didn't need to even go look at the other places! The combination of nature, comfort and incredible service made the whole event so stress-free and fun. I can't say thank you enough to Sam, Julie and Canapes too!

We wanted to get married in the woods in the fall, and ThorpeWood provided us with the perfect balance of outdoors and indoors. When we saw it in person we immediately knew ThorpeWood was the perfect location, and we have received so many compliments since the wedding! Julie's willingness to do whatever it took to make our day special was icing on the cake.

I liked the fact that Thorpewood is "earthy", no other interruptions other than your function, very clean, food was great and most important, very pleasant people to work with who help children.
