As the growing human population continues to degrade our environment it becomes more necessary to protect and conserve. The "web of life" concept makes it clear that all aspects of the environment are interdependent, and that we are part of that web. People need to be educated about what they can do and have opportunities to participate in conservation and preservation efforts.

ThorpeWood conducts three ecology programs in the Catoctin Mountains and the greater western Maryland region: watershed protection, American chestnut recovery, and native plant conservation. These programs offer youth and adults substantial opportunities to enhance their conservation expertise and to effect vital on-the-ground impact.

Ecology Programs ThorpeWood currently offers include:

American Chestnut Orchard
A Tale of Two Watersheds
Native Plantscaping
